| I could set the primary maps to 25 deg timing on pump gas and nothing will happen to the car because it will immediately go into the hard coded "limp mode" . Here is an experiment - Take identical primary / secondary maps - bump up the primary 10 degrees in timing across the board. Stick a logger on the car. Make a pull see the timing drop to EXACTLY what the secondary map says. Been there done that. Secondary maps work and they have a purpose. Downside to secondary map is inconsistent performance as you stated based on conditions. Question is would you save a motor or have consistent performance ? The answer is simple to me. On a street car i'd err towards saving the motor. On a race car where you would rather blow a motor than lose a race - maybe to the identical map thing. Not trying to argue with you but just stating my opinion Harry
